Five Little Ducks

	  		Note - this is a traditional childrens song that has 
been around for years and years.  It has many variations 
in both tune and lyrics.  I've added my version  
complete with an 'alternate' ending that older  
(and naughtier) children love.

Five little ducks went swimming one day

Over the hills and far away

The mamma duck said 'Quack, quack, quack quack',

But only four little ducks came back...

Four little ducks went swimming one day 
over the hills and far away. 
The mamma duck said 'Quack, quack, quack, quack', 
but only three little ducks came back 

Three little ducks went swimming one day 
over the hills and far away. 
The mamma duck said 'Quack, quack, quack, quack', 
but only two little ducks came back 

Two little ducks went swimming one day 
over the hills and far away. 
The mamma duck said 'Quack, quack, quack, quack', 
but only one little duck came back 

One little duck went swimming one day

Note - some versions end here.  Others add the 
following verse: 

The mamma duck went out swimming one day, 
over the hills and far away, 
The mamma duck said 'Quack, quack, quack, quack', 
And five little ducks came swimming back! 

Note - personally I teach slightly older children with  
behaviour disorders, so I came up with the following 
alternative ending to suit their 'needs':  

Two duck hunters went hunting one day, 
over the hills and far away, 
their duck calls went 'Quack, quack, quack, quack', 
And five little ducks went home in a sack!
