Colter Run

	  		
Verse 1:

In 1809 John Colter and John Potts

Paddled their canoe up the Jefferson

On the hunt for beaver sign and a good camping spot

And right when they reached the river bend

Blackfeet warriors swarmed the river bank

And motioned for them to surrender

Colter threw up his hands but Potts tempted his fate

And was riddled with arrows and dismembered

They ripped off Colter?s clothes and took his moccasins

And told him to start running for his life

Like a game of cat and mouse just dragging out the end

He took off with the Madison in his sights
